Finding combinatorial biomarkers in AD Lead Investigator: Vince Grolmusz Institution : Eotvos University E-Mail : grolmusz@cs.elte.hu Proposal ID : 193 Proposal Description: By using advanced datamining tools, including density based clustering and association rule discovery methods, we are searching for biomarkers of the onset and progress of AD. Our biomarkers are the members of a set, and the interrelation of the members of the set are analyzed for pathological roles. Therefore we are looking for onset and monitoring the progression of the disease. The data analyzed include: genetic data, laboratory data, cognitive status, co-morbidity. Description of his potential data analysis: Suppose that we find from the NACC data the following relation: ([(TIA5YR .AND. HYPERTEN) .OR. (HYPERCHO)] .AND. mild impairment in ORIENT .AND. d00241 medication (folic acid supplement)) ) implies fast progression of AD by MMSE and CDR follow-up data. and suppose, that smaller, simpler relations will not imply the same fast progression, then we will be able to create a hypothesis that these factors may play a role in fast progression.
